Poppy in the Sun by Tina Nair

Today was beautiful - lots of sunshine and not too hot! Was grateful to take some flower pics in my friend’s lovely, colourful backyard garden. Here’s a close-up of a poppy with pistil and stamens.

A Fresh Start by Tina Nair

Have decided to get back to posting photos on this site, after an almost seven-year hiatus. I’ve given the site a bit of a facelift, and have also made some pics available for purchase as glossies or canvases. (I may eventually include metal prints as an option too.)

Wishing everyone a blessed day – here’s to new beginnings! 😊

Rainy Days by Tina Nair

There's a Japanese Maple right outside my office window.  It's been raining on and off this week, but there are still pretty leaves on this tree.  Decided to seize the moment and ran outside to take a pic.

Pretty Colours by Tina Nair

The first half of today was sunshiny, and I took a few pics over my lunch hour.  I think this is one of my favourites so far.  I enhanced the colours a little in Lightroom 5, but I think I managed to do it without making anything look unreal this time...

Spring - Finally! by Tina Nair

It's finally feeling like Spring around here!  I went to the Toronto Botanical Gardens/Edwards Gardens this morning.  Quite a few happy photographers were out there like me, enjoying the sunshine, the Spring weather, and the green that's finally appearing in the landscape!

Winter in Queens Park by Tina Nair

So grateful we finally had another decent snowfall, so I could go out and take some pics!  I took this one in Queens Park over my lunch hour yesterday.  Ran it through Lightroom before posting it.

Sigh... by Tina Nair

Have I mentioned that I LOVE Autumn??  Although Friday felt like the first day of winter to me, I had taken a couple of Fall photos earlier in the week which I've only now gotten around to adding to this site.  Some of these, like the one above were taken with my smart phone (Sony Xperia-T).  Admittedly, I doctored the colours in the one above with some Lightroom 5 modifications, but it's an enjoyable creative process and I'm learning something new all the time!

O Canada! by Tina Nair

Autumn in Canada is beautiful!  It's my favourite season for many, many reasons, but the beautiful colours of fall foliage is the biggest one.  Having been stricken with three weeks of chronic brochitis, along with a couple of rainy weekends, I didn't get to take many photos at all, but I'm praying for a final window of opportunity this weekend...

My Favourite Season by Tina Nair

Stopped the car yesterday, just to take this shot - I love Autumn!  Applied a few Lightroom presets to it (auto-tone, punch, and vignette 2), and adjusted the sharpening, saturation, and vibrance.  I was happy to recently discover that you can have access to Photoshop CC and Lightroom through Adobe Creative Cloud for only $9.99 (U.S.) per month (plus local taxes).  No one is paying me to say that; I really am grateful!

Scene Selection: Sports Action by Tina Nair

It may not have been necessary to have the camera in sports action mode to take this pic, but I didn't want to take any chances.  This lovely thing kept fluttering around so quickly, I wanted to make sure I got the pic and that she didn't appear blurry.  In this mode, the Sony a6000 takes pics at 11 frames per second.  I managed to catch her coming in for a landing.

Scene Selection: Macro by Tina Nair

Today I discovered the built-in macro setting on my Sony a6000.  When the camera's in Scene Selection mode, I can choose Macro when taking close-up shots of flowers, leaves, etc.  That, plus the macro lens made for some nice photos (I think), and I didn't have to adjust the focus area myself.  I like the flexible-focal spot feature, but it's not available when you're in macro-mode.   Sometimes, the camera didn't focus on quite the same spot I would've chosen (see photo above), but at this stage, I'm inclined to think the camera knows better than I do - it's likely the pic turned out better this way!
